Quiet musings…

I finally have five minutes to myself since the end of January, which is being used as a quiet time to muse over a new aerial hoop routine for the upcoming showcase auditions. Doin’ the same as I always do: training, watching youtube videos, listening to music, and (something new) looking at pictures of birds.

Kate and Steve on trapezes as bored housewife and working husband to the tune of Marilyn Monroe’s “Heat Wave” (check out the Acro guys in this vid from “There’s No Business Like Show Business”).  I love that these pics are like a comic strip, you can see the story just by looking at the shots! Their names are Stacey and Tracy and they are not related, nor did they know each other before they started taking classes at Cirque School.  I’ve heard that CS teachers thought they were one person until they both showed up to the same class and blew everyone’s minds. So naturally, for the Space Age Retro Showcase, they did a Twilight Zone-y, Stepford Wives routine.

Showcase Inspiration Submission by Jennifer Jackson Bloom

After a last minute act change, we ended up with an alien beatnik concept.  I have no idea what an alien beatnik actually looks like, but I’m imagining she lives on the West Bank of Mars and looks like a cross between…

…Jean Seberg

…Mary Quaint

…and Peggy Moffitt

…if all three of them came from a race of shiny green aliens.

So yeah.  There’s that.  I’m stocking up on black eyelash glue today.  ;-)

Showcase Fog
